Designer Profile
Ximena Valero
Los Angeles-based designer Ximena Valero is known for creating body-conscious silhouettes with bold cutouts. Although the designer began her career in 1998 at the Fashion Institute of Design and Marketing (FIDM), she left her program within a year for a coveted design internship with Victoria’s Secret in New York. The move launched her career into action. Although Ms. Valero never returned to complete her degree, the technical precision with which she executes her beautiful and innovative designs has caught the eyes of fashion editors and celebrities alike.
While in New York, Elite Models took note of Ms. Valero’s designs and showcased her collection at New York Fashion Week. The publicity boosted Ms. Valero to international fame, and her line was admitted to Mexico Fashion Week and Miami Fashion Week. This latter engagement earned Ms. Valero the award for Designer of the Year for Excellence in Evening Wear.
In 2007, Ms. Valero relocated to Los Angeles, where she developed Transformable Fashion, a line focused on convertible women’s apparel. The project was an instant international success. In 2010, Kellogg’s collaborated with Ms. Valero to offer a Transformable Fashion dress as a prize to consumers in Mexico, Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
2015 Ms. Valero team up with TED TALK to create a video about her work that will broadcast on television and online. A second video highlighting the designer’s most recent projects will premiere during Google Fashion Week in November.
